  • Microsoft Windows XP extends antimalware support until July 14, 2015

Even though the Microsoft will stop supporting the XP operating system on April 8, 2014, Microsoft announced Wednesday that they will continue releasing anti-malware signatures for machines running Windows XP through April 15, 2015. In other words, Microsoft’s Security Essentials will continue to receive updated definitions through April 2015, even though service packs and Microsoft system updates will cease April 2014.

This also means that if you don’t already have Microsoft Security Essentials and want a free antivirus software with coverage for the next year and a half, you should download it before April 2014 as it won’t be available for download after that.
