  • All things triathlon

I work hard on IT. But I play hard on triathlon. This is my site. This is my blog. I’m going to blog mostly about IT for small business, but I’ll also blog about triathlon. I like IT but I love triathlon.

My first entry is about a new sports drink from a company called Skratch Labs. Gatorade invented the category many years ago but in my opinion it was only perfected recently by Skratch. I say this from my own experience trying many sports drinks over the past 5 years. Skratch is the first sports drink that after a long ride, when you’re sick of drinking what you’ve been drinking for the past 100 miles, and you would normally throw away anything remaining in your bottles – I actually finish my Skratch drink and I’ll  make more to use for recovery. First time, I found a drink that I like and that likes me.

My other piece of evidence is mold. Yes, common mold. The kind that grows on your fruits and vegetables if you leave them in your refrigerator too long. Skratch is the first sports drink where I discovered mold on the inside of my cycling bottles if I don’t wash them right away. Never before has mold grown on my empty bottles; the other sports drinks don’t contain anything life sustaining to a single cell mold. With all other brands, I could leave a used, empty unwashed cycling bottle in my kitchen sink for a week, and it will look like I never used it. If I leave an empty bottle in my sink, after I finish all the Skratch, within a day or two I’ll see mold growing on the inside of the bottle ! To me, that means that Skratch contains what other organisms/mold want; and yes, it’s what I want.
