“I sleep better at night knowing that I have LMIT supporting all of our IT needs. They are so attentive and timely, it’s as if we have own in-house IT department. They are not just one of our vendors—they are our partner.”
“Thank you Landmark, you’re always there to help when we need you most!”

We’ve seen this virus infection firsthand and it is real!
There is a new piece of malicious software, known as Cryptolocker, that is currently infecting a wide variety of machines across the internet. This infection is particularly dangerous because it encrypts files on your computer, making them inaccessible, and then demands payment to decrypt the files so that they can be used again.
The primary way this infection has been distributed is via email attachments. The most common scenario has been for the email to appear to be a customer support related issue from FedEx, UPS, DHL, or some other delivery service vendor. The attachment appears to be a PDF, but opening the attachment will result in your computer becoming infected with the Cryptolocker malware.
The best way to avoid becoming infected with this malicious software is to follow general guidelines for safe computing:
If you do receive an email that appears to be from a vendor about an account or payment problem do not follow any links or open any attachments.
